Your total monthly mortgage cost is calculated by multiplying your loan amount by the interest rate over the term of your loan. Here in Nevada County, loans are typically compounded on a monthly basis. Use the drop-down box in the calculator to select your compounding / payment period. Keep in mind that this calculator does not include additional monthly costs such as property taxes and insurance.
If you do not yet have a pre-approved loan, it’s also important to know that the standard rule for lenders is that monthly housing expenses (principal, interest, taxes, insurance) should not take up more than 28 percent of your income before taxes.
